ChatGPT review
General-purpose use, versatility and the broadest ecosystem.
Overview
ChatGPT remains the default AI assistant for most people, and earns it: strong all-round models, voice and vision built in, web access, file analysis, custom GPTs and the largest third-party ecosystem in the category. It is rarely the wrong answer. Weaknesses are mostly organisational — team admin and data controls lag the enterprise suites — plus the sheer pace of feature change, which can make the product feel restless.
Strengths and weaknesses
What we like
- Strongest all-round capability across writing, analysis and coding
- Voice, image and file handling in one product
- Custom GPTs and the largest plugin/app ecosystem
- Capable free tier; Plus is good value at $20/mo
- Fast-moving — new capabilities arrive here first
What to watch
- Feature churn can disorient casual users
- Workspace/enterprise admin less mature than Microsoft's
- Web browsing and citation quality still inconsistent
- Free tier rate limits arrive quickly at busy times

Best for

Probably not for
