Why this site exists
Most software comparison sites are affiliate machines whose rankings quietly track commission size. ReQompass was built on a different premise: if you do the research honestly — renewal pricing, true usage costs, the weaknesses vendors do not advertise — and publish the working, readers come back and rankings follow. Everything on the site is downstream of that bet.
We cover consequential UK business decisions: accounting and payroll (including Making Tax Digital), business banking, field service, agency hosting, CRM, project management and more. Each category gets the same treatment — a buying guide, scored reviews, head-to-head verdicts, and an insight piece on what actually matters.
The independence rules
- Rankings are never for sale. Vendors cannot pay for inclusion, position, or review coverage, and cannot see content before publication.
- No vendor equity or sponsorships. ReQompass carries no display advertising and takes no sponsored content; if affiliate commissions ever exist, they are unknown to whoever scores the product and never an input.
- Weaknesses are mandatory. Every review publishes honest cons, and every comparison says who should buy the other product. A review without a weakness is an advert, and we do not publish adverts.
- We show the maths. Pricing claims are modelled at realistic usage — three-year payroll costs, five-meter banking fees, hosting at renewal prices — and the working is on the page.
AI-assisted research, human-verified
We use AI tooling in research and drafting — and treat it the way a good newsroom treats an intern: fast, broad, and never published unchecked. Every review carries a data-integrity strip stating when a human last re-verified its figures against vendor-published sources, with a one-click link to those sources. Profiles awaiting their next audit say so plainly, and our automated freshness check flags any record older than 90 days. The full rules live on the methodology page.
Corrections desk
Vendors reprice constantly and we will sometimes be behind — that is the honest reality of tracking 59 products. If you spot a figure that has changed or a claim that is wrong, tell us: corrections — from readers or vendors, with evidence — are investigated and acted on regardless of any commercial relationship. Corrections are a feature of this publication, not an embarrassment.
